The song of a generation that inspired the kids’ book of the year | “Sweet Child O’ Mine”
There’s always something exhilarating about bringing a story to life. It becomes even more electric when the tale is spun around the timeless track, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by none other than the legendary rock band, Guns N’ Roses. In collaboration with Hachette Book Group and illustrator Jennifer Zivoin, we at ECG Productions embarked on a thrilling journey to create an animated promotional video for the book ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine.’
This book, beautifully marrying Zivoin’s illustrative magic with the essence of one of the greatest rock anthems of all time, presented us with the challenge and opportunity to produce a dynamic video that reflects its unique charm.
Our approach to this project combined 2.5D animation – which adds a layer of depth and dynamism to 2D graphics – with original assets from the book and custom-drawn elements. This blend of components allowed us to create an immersive, visually compelling animation that resonated with the soulful energy of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
Over the course of this project, our relationship with Hachette Book Group was marked by constant creative evolution. Through several iterations of the video, we were able to fine-tune the narrative to capture the spirit of the book and the ethos of Guns N’ Roses.
