Goodwill Resume Tips from ECG Productions on Vimeo. Similar to the “Interview Tips” piece we also produced for Goodwill of North Georgia, this informational training video was shot at our in-house studio using our newly built custom-built light table. The production team utilized many in-camera tricks and practical illusions, along with digital effects created in post, to create the “magic” effects that make the information presented much more likely to be retained. Project Story

Learn practical video production strategies from ECG Productions to create engaging, clear, and effective resume tips videos like Goodwill’s. Discover how to plan, shoot, and

Help readers decide how to plan and produce a clear, engaging resume tips video that effectively communicates key information and holds viewer attention.

Why Clear Motion and Visuals Matter in Resume Tips Videos

When producing a resume tips video, clarity is king. Goodwill’s video succeeds because it uses motion graphics, practical effects, and digital enhancements to make key points easier to understand and remember. Instead of relying solely on talking heads, the production integrates visual storytelling techniques that highlight important details—like formatting advice or interview tips—making the content more digestible and engaging. For your video, consider how motion and visuals can simplify complex information and keep viewers focused on the message.

Separating Style from Communication Goals

A polished look is important, but it should never overshadow the message. Before production begins, define your communication goals: Who is your audience? What do they already know? What must the video prove or teach? What tone fits the brand and topic? Goodwill’s video balances a friendly, approachable style with clear, concise information. This balance guides every production choice—from lighting and set design to animation style and pacing. At ECG, we recommend starting with these questions to ensure your video style supports, not distracts from, your core message.

Choosing the Right Production Approach for Your Video

Not every resume tips video needs the same production approach. Goodwill’s video combines live action, in-camera effects, and post-production VFX to create a memorable experience. Depending on your budget and goals, you might opt for simple edits with motion graphics overlays, fully animated explainers, or live action with integrated graphics. ECG can help you decide whether 2D or 3D animation, motion design, or a hybrid approach best suits your project’s needs, timeline, and audience expectations.

Planning for Approvals and Deliverables

A smooth production process hinges on clear communication about approvals and deliverables. Early conversations should cover who will review the video, what brand guidelines must be followed, and what final formats and lengths are required. Goodwill’s project benefited from defined approval paths and a clear understanding of where the video would be distributed—ensuring the final cut aligned with client expectations. At ECG, we help clients map out these steps in pre-production to avoid costly delays and revisions.

Next Steps: Bringing Your Resume Tips Video to Life

Start your project with a focused briefing: clarify your video’s goal, audience, timeline, and any existing assets or brand constraints. Share references that capture the tone, pacing, or style you want, and highlight what doesn’t work for you. This helps ECG tailor a production plan that matches your vision and budget. Whether you need a simple edit or a complex motion graphics piece, we guide you through pre-production, shooting, post, and delivery to create a video that not only finishes on time but truly connects with your audience.
