Gingerbread gets gory in this dark and bloody holiday sendup for James Patterson’s new book!
Look, we’ve known since Shrek that gingerbread people were far darker than we previously thought. This delightfully disturbed commercial, featuring treat-on-treat violence, is part of our series of 12 videos to promote James Patterson’s new book, The 19th Christmas. It’s up to the Women’s Murder Club once again to solve the case and save the day. This was far from the first time we’ve made trailers for the WMC series, and they remain a favorite. This was, however, the first time we got to use our brand new Laowa 24mm f/14 Macro Probe Lens!
When your goal is to shoot the inside of a gingerbread house, a probe lens is your best friend. Or at all, come to think of it. To get this move just right, we positioned our URSA Mini Pro camera on rails, and started the move inside the house. Then, when the time came to edit the video, we played it in reverse. This technique allowed us to get a way smoother shot of the carnage. Spirit of Animation Present, Trey Gregory, added film grain and camera burn effects to give the spot it’s spooky atmosphere and distinctive style.
