Project Write-Up

ParkMobile | Anywhere, Anyway

This action-packed commercial for ParkMobile will get your engines revving for parking possibilities!

We’ve all been there before: you’re meeting up with friends for a night out, but you’re running a tad bit late. You’re near the rendezvous point, but parking is a bear. You frantically search for a spot, your palms beginning to sweat. Finally you find a spot and then BOOM! your night is off the races. This adrenaline-inducing scenario was what spawned our latest commercial for ParkMobile.

The ask for this project was pretty straightforward: highlight the various ways that ParkMobile can ease your parking stress. As the name of the spot suggests, ParkMobile helps you park anywhere and any way. The trick was finding a fun approach that wasn’t just a catalog of different locations. And thus, our “heist team meet up” approach was born!

Shot over the course of 2 days, the shoot itself was as intense as the spot itself. Using both our Black Magic Ursa Mini Pro and our Black Magic Pocket Cinema cameras, we captured a litany of complicated shots. Perfectly-timed tracking shots using our DJI Ronin, a long dolly shot through a crowd of people, and tons of extreme close-up snap zooms. In short, the visual language of this spot screams summer blockbuster.

Coincidentally, so does the color grade. As our resident Colorist, Jenn Lee, has pointed out before, these high-octane box office darlings often employ a similar look. Additionally, from the very beginning of pre-production, the spot’s director, Jordan Nowlin, wanted to highlight the “Michael Bay-ness” of this style. And that’s exactly what Jenn did.

Taking a note out of Mr. Bay’s “movies,” Jenn added blues to each shot’s shadows and warm tones to their highlights. This general approach plus some great supervised color sessions between Jenn, Jordan, and the spot’s DP, Trey Gregory, took the spot from 0 to 100 real quick.

Ultimately, this commercial does everything we wanted from it. It’s fast-paced, exciting, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. And above all else, “Anywhere, Anyway” perfectly showcases ParkMobile in a unique, enticing light.

I mean, who wouldn’t wanna feel like an action star on their next evening out?

Project Story

Help marketing and production teams decide how to align video strategy, creative approach, and technical execution to effectively communicate a brand’s key message before committing production resources.

Start with Clear Audience and Message Targets

Before rolling cameras, the most practical production truth is knowing exactly who the video needs to reach and what it must communicate. For ParkMobile’s 'Anywhere, Anyway' campaign, the core message was simple: ParkMobile makes parking easy anywhere, any way you want. The audience? Urban drivers who face parking stress daily. This clarity shaped every creative and technical choice—from script to shot list to final edit—ensuring the video spoke directly to real user pain points.

Craft a Concept That Brings the Brand Promise to Life

Rather than a straightforward feature rundown, the production team chose a narrative approach: a high-energy 'heist team meet up' that mirrors the adrenaline of finding a parking spot in a busy city. This story-led concept creates emotional engagement and makes the brand benefit memorable. When developing your own video, consider how a compelling story or metaphor can illustrate your brand’s value beyond just listing features.

Plan Production to Support the Story and Brand Tone

ParkMobile’s shoot spanned two intense days using Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro and Pocket Cinema cameras, chosen for their cinematic quality and flexibility. The production incorporated complex tracking shots with a DJI Ronin stabilizer, long dolly moves, and snap zooms to build tension and pace. Align your camera, lighting, and movement choices with the story’s energy and the brand’s personality to create a cohesive visual language.

Use Color Grading to Enhance Mood and Brand Identity

Colorist Jenn Lee applied a signature 'Michael Bay-inspired' grade—cool blues in shadows and warm highlights—to amplify the spot’s summer blockbuster feel. This supervised color session between director, DP, and colorist ensured the look elevated the narrative and brand tone simultaneously. Thoughtful color grading is a powerful post-production tool to reinforce mood and brand recognition.

Deliver a Video That Balances Excitement with Clear Brand Messaging

The final commercial is fast-paced and visually thrilling, yet never loses sight of the core message: ParkMobile removes parking hassles. It’s a reminder that production choices—story, camera work, color, pacing—must all serve the brand’s communication goals. Your video should excite viewers and make the brand promise unmistakable, driving engagement and action.
