Behind the scenes of a music video production

Celebrated philosopher and cultural critic Friedrich Nietzsche once quipped, “Without music, life would be a mistake.” Though Nietzsche was infamously obtuse–and, let’s be honest, kind of a dick‒this quote is straightforward and sincere. No matter your age, ethnicity, native language, or hot dog topping preferences (if your go-to is still ketchup…why?), music moves us all.

At ECG, our team displays their love for music every day. We blare Kanye, Childish Gambino, and Chance, the Rapper while pulling gear. Our editors Collin & Emily constantly scrutinize the picks on their Discover Weekly playlists on Spotify. I listen to the Midnight In Paris soundtrack WAY too much while I’m writing (hint: I’m listening to it right now). The point being: we are all driven by music, entranced by it, even.

But, more importantly, as a video production agency, we love pairing music with the medium we know best: video. Which leads us to…

How Do I Submit?

Okay aspiring artists, this is the important part of the post, so pay attention! Here’s how you can submit to win a free music video from ECG Productions:

  1. Think about what makes you, as an artist or a band, the most deserving of a free music video.
  2. Film a quick testimonial video that tells us about you. Who you are as an artist or band? Why you deserve to win? You don’t need to get too crazy here, just a simple video filmed on your smartphone will do the trick.
  3. At the end of the video, provide a quick snippet of the song you’d want to make into a music video. We’re selective of the artists that we work with at ECG, and we only make music videos for tracks that we connect with. So, show us why we should love your music.
  4. Once you’ve made your video, post it to our ECG Facebook page.  Label your post as:

Artist/Band Name – Song Name

After that, all you need to do is sit back, relax, and keep playing music. We’ll look over all of our submissions and talk it over as a team. On Monday, October 30th we will make out final decision. Once we have an official winner, we’ll announce it on Facebook and reach out to you directly to let you know the good news.

  1. Hi, I’m Michael Lindsey. I write films, and music. I would like to get in the field of doing music videos, and screenplay writing. I came across your company online. Is there anyway that I could help out? As an intern, or whatever needed in the creative process.
