Resurgens Orthopaedics Success Story | Rikki

The first in a series of branded content vignettes for Resurgens Orthopaedics, this spot tells the inspiring story of Rikki, a former knee surgery patient. As a hard-working 20-something, Rikki felt like she was invincible, that her health was totally fine.

After her knee injury derailed her life, she realized just how precious time and mobility are. The production itself was a blast, and our run-and-gun approach to the b-roll gave us some awesome shots. In keeping with Resurgens’ tagline, we really tried to “reach for more” on this one. Ultimately, we did just that.

Help marketing and production decision-makers understand how to translate a patient success story into an effective branded video that connects with its audience and meets strategic goals.

Turning a Patient Story into a Strategic Video Asset

Resurgens Orthopaedics’ video featuring Rikki, a young knee surgery patient, is more than a testimonial—it’s a carefully crafted branded content piece designed to resonate with an active, health-conscious audience. The production team focused on capturing Rikki’s journey authentically while aligning with Resurgens’ brand promise to “reach for more.” For producers and marketers, this means starting with a clear understanding of the story’s emotional core and how it supports the client’s broader marketing goals.

Pre-Production: Defining Audience, Deliverables, and Approvals

Before rolling cameras, the ECG team helped the client clarify who needs to care about Rikki’s story and why. Knowing the target audience—young adults facing orthopedic challenges—shaped the tone and pacing. Defining deliverables upfront, including video length, formats, and distribution channels, ensured the final product fit seamlessly into Resurgens’ digital and social platforms. Establishing a review and approval process early kept the project on track and avoided costly revisions.

Production Approach: Run-and-Gun B-Roll for Authenticity

The production embraced a run-and-gun style to capture dynamic b-roll footage that reflected Rikki’s active lifestyle post-recovery. This approach allowed for spontaneous, genuine moments that enhance viewer engagement. Lighting and sound setups were optimized for mobility and speed without sacrificing quality, a balance that producers often need to strike when working on location with limited time.

Post-Production: Crafting Pacing and Tone to Match the Brand

In editing, pacing was key to maintaining viewer interest and emotional impact. The team balanced interview segments with b-roll to create a narrative flow that felt both inspiring and credible. Color grading and sound design reinforced the warm, hopeful tone aligned with Resurgens’ brand identity. Clear calls-to-action were integrated thoughtfully to encourage viewers to learn more or engage with the clinic.
