GIVING BACK IS AS EASY AS PB&J

Spreading love, cheer, and PB&J!
How does ECG give back to the community? We make sandwiches of course. Check out how the whole team got into the holiday spirit by helping homeless shelters.

Spreading Love, Cheer, & Peanut Butter This Holiday Season

Two weeks ago, I received an email from ECG co-owner Jason Marraccini inviting the ECG team to participate in Landmark Restorations’ 33rd Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Making Session. This being my first holiday season while working at ECG, I was excited to learn that community service is something the company values and encourages. So, on Thursday the 18th, one week before Christmas, ECG Productions set aside some time to get into the holiday spirit by volunteering at the event.

The event, hosted by Landmark Restorations, is a yearly get-together that benefits homeless shelters all over the Atlanta-metro area by making and delivering sandwiches during the holiday season. The event also collects socks for a sock drive called “Operation Sock it to Homelessness” that delivers new socks to homeless children, infants, and adults.

I arrived at Landmark Restorations’ warehouse space-turned-PB&J assembly line around 9:30 am in the morning with co-workers Jenn and Chad. We were met with Starbucks coffee, juice, and sweet rolls for a quick breakfast before getting down to business. It was obvious that the folks at Landmark Restorations are no amateurs; the warehouse space was optimized for assembly-line style sandwich-making with lined tables, spatulas for spreading, and an inconceivable amount of bread loaves. We grabbed our plastic gloves and joined the fun. Between Jenn, Chad, Jase and me, we probably made at least 100 loaves worth of sandwiches.

UPDATE: The 33rd Annual Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Making Event was a huge success, delivering a whopping 18,400 sandwiches to homeless shelters in the metro-Atlanta area.

Getting Into the Holiday Spirit

While we worked we were treated to some incredibly delicious Treehorn Cider, a locally-brewed hard apple cider, compliments of ECG’s own Jason Marraccini and company. There was music all morning thanks to DJ Chris, who put us in the Christmas spirit with a mixture of pop and holiday music. There was even a masseuse on site, treating volunteers to a nice shoulder and back massage. Whether it was the music or the cider, Thursday felt like the true start of the Christmas season for me. With so much work to be done before the end of the year, it can be hard to make yourself slow down. Thursday’s event was a perfect and simple reminder: some things are worth slowing down for.

From everyone here at ECG Productions, have a happy and safe holiday season! We’ll see you next year!
