Project Write-Up

Mercedes-Benz | 2018 E-Coupe Walk Around

We went the extra mile for this Mercedes-Benz 2018 E-Coupe walk around

Sure, positioning that car in that spot wasn’t easy. But, it sure looked great once it was there. A real Mercedes Product Manager, Jennifer Schefczik, acted as presenter in this video. She easily convinced us the E-Class was worth the trouble. Moreover, we felt pretty awesome about giving this coupe a chance to show us what it's got. Meticulous camerawork by DP Brandon Peterson, using both the Ursa Mini Pro and Sony a7s ii, made this video another smashing success. Thanks to our handy gimbal, the shots are silky smooth, giving the video a polished, yet organic feel. It’s a worthy addition to our ever-growing library of collaborations with Mercedes. We’re already looking forward to next time! Client: Mercedes-Benz  |  Profile: Branded Content, Commercial

Project Story

Discover how strategic planning shaped the Mercedes-Benz 2018 E-Coupe walk around video. Learn practical tips for aligning video production with marketing goals and audience needs.

Help marketing and production teams make smarter video decisions by exploring the strategic approach behind the Mercedes-Benz 2018 E-Coupe walk around.

Why Strategic Planning Matters in Video Production

Before rolling cameras, understanding who the video needs to reach and what it must communicate is critical. The Mercedes-Benz 2018 E-Coupe walk around is a prime example of how aligning message, audience, and visual storytelling creates a compelling marketing asset. This video doesn’t just show the car; it earns attention by quickly answering why viewers should care, setting the stage for every production choice that follows.

Pre-Production: Defining Versions and Deliverables Early

One of the biggest lessons from this project is the importance of planning multiple video versions before the shoot. From hero videos and cutdowns to captions, vertical crops for social, and sales follow-up edits, knowing the formats and platforms in advance shapes production and post workflows. This foresight ensures the final deliverables fit seamlessly into campaign distribution, landing pages, and paid media strategies without costly re-edits.

Production Techniques That Elevate Brand Storytelling

The Mercedes-Benz video benefits from meticulous camera work by DP Brandon Peterson, who used the Ursa Mini Pro alongside the Sony a7s II. The use of a gimbal created smooth, organic movement that feels polished but authentic. Choosing the right gear and operator, and planning for dynamic yet controlled shots, is vital to visually support the brand’s premium positioning and storytelling goals.

Post-Production and Delivery: Polishing with Purpose

Post-production isn’t just about making footage look good; it’s about reinforcing the narrative and brand tone. Color grading, sound design, and pacing were carefully tuned to complement the E-Coupe’s sleek image and the presenter’s authoritative delivery. Thoughtful editing ensures the video flows naturally and keeps viewers engaged, while tailored exports meet the technical requirements of each distribution channel.

Collaborating with Clients and Setting Clear Success Metrics

A key to this project’s success was clear communication with Mercedes-Benz’s product manager, Jennifer Schefczik, who presented the car with credibility and enthusiasm. Early conversations addressed who needed to care, what the video had to prove, and how success would be measured beyond just completing the file. Defining approval workflows, brand constraints, and must-have elements upfront helped keep the production aligned with client expectations and campaign goals.
